Artificial intelligence (AI) has become increasingly vital in strategic decision-making, thanks to its exceptional ability to analyze vast quantities of data. However, as AI significantly influences human decisions, ethical concerns such as privacy, surveillance, bias, and discrimination have arisen. This highlights the necessity for careful oversight of AI usage to protect fundamental human rights.
In recent years, Germany has pursued an AI strategy to establish itself as a global leader in artificial intelligence. On 1 August 2024, the European Artificial Intelligence Act (EU AI Act) came into effect, promoting responsible AI development and deployment within the EU. This act marks a significant advancement in creating a comprehensive regulatory framework for AI technology. Indonesia is also advancing its AI initiatives. The Indonesia National AI Strategy (Stranas KA) 2020-2045, launched in August 2020, addresses the need to build an AI ecosystem and compete in the digital economy.
As part of the series of exchanges between Indonesia and Germany, a Knowledge Exchange on the EU AI Act and classification of AI Systems' is organized. This event aims to provide in-depth insights into the processes of creating, implementing, and refining AI regulations between the two countries.
