Open Forum at IGF 2023: Creating digital public infrastructure that empowers people
Online / Kyoto International Conference Center, Workshop Room 7 / K
The Secretariat for the International Digital Dialogues coordinates a panel discussion on the topic of digital public infrastructure (DPI). The hybrid session is part of the UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2023 in Kyoto, Japan. It will take place on 11 October 2023 from 17:45 to 18:45 (JST) / 10:45 to 11:45 (CEST).
DPI includes essential services such as digital identification, digital payment, data exchange and information systems. It increasingly plays an important role as it allows easy access to government services and promotes data exchange between the public and private sector. However, the implementation of DPI can be challenging due to limited technical capacity or coordination issues.
The international exchange of best practices can help prevent inefficiencies, navigate stakeholder interests and protect citizen rights while building DPI. International platforms also play an important role in fostering DPI interoperability.
With speakers coming from different countries and the possibility for the audience to interact, the session promotes open discussion, peer learning and international cooperation. Participants will gain valuable insights into DPI implementation, roles of actors in different DPI ecosystems and practical lessons from experts.
To join the session virtually, go to the session page on the IGF website (click here). Register for the IGF and then add the session to your personal schedule. To join the session in person, you must be registered for the IGF as on-site participant and can then drop in.
