Stakeholder meeting and launch of the Kenyan-German Digital Dialogue's Work Plan

Online

The German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) together with the Kenyan Ministry of Information, Communications and The Digital Economy (MICDE) will be conducting a stakeholder meeting and launch of the Kenyan-German Digital Dialogue’s first annual Work Plan.

Both ministries formally commenced the Kenyan-German Digital Dialogue in November 2023 underlining their intent to facilitate dialogue and cooperation on digital policy and digital transformation in both nations. Together, they have set priority areas for the upcoming year of the Digital Dialogue: internet governance, data policy and cybersecurity; digital innovation and sustainable growth; digital public infrastructure and services.

The stakeholder meeting and launch of the Kenyan-German Digital Dialogue’s first annual Work Plan will take place

on Tuesday, 13 February 2024
from 13:00 to 15:00 (CET) // 15:00 to 17:00 (EAT)
online.

BMDV and MICDE would like to discuss current digital policy issues with you that align with this year's priorities of the Kenyan-German Digital Dialogue. You are welcome to actively participate in the session with your own contribution. Specifically, participants can join working groups to discuss and engage on the following topics:

Cybersecurity: Governments, businesses and individuals are increasingly faced with cybersecurity threats. This session will look at governmental efforts for cybersecurity on the one hand and at the need for capacity building on cybersecurity for businesses and individuals on the other.
Speakers: Grace Githaiga, KICTANet, and Dr. Sven Herpig, Stiftung Neue Verantwortung

Artificial intelligence: Large language models majorly impacted the world in 2023. This working group looks at AI's global impact, equity and the leverage governments and stakeholders have on a global scale and within national borders, e.g. in multilateral forums or through national AI strategies.
Speakers: Brian Omwenga, THiNK, and Dr. Theresa Züger, HIIG

Digital economy: Business process outsourcing has proven integral to Kenya's economic growth. Germany faces a shortage of skilled labour. This working group looks at the opportunity of job creation and the working conditions in the tech industry.
Speakers: Roselyn Maundu, BPO Association Kenya, and Julia Kloiber, Superrr Lab

The outcomes of each working group will set the tone for this year's activities of the Kenyan-German Digital Dialogue. This allows you to help shape the upcoming cooperation.

Registrations for the stakeholder meeting are no longer possible. We look forward to welcoming you to future events of the International Digital Dialogues.
