News from the International Digital DialoguesGENERALGlobal Stakeholder Forum on International Digital Policy Germany's Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) hosted a Global Stakeholder Forum on International Digital Policy. The two-day event, held on 23 and 24 May, aimed at gathering valuable input from international stakeholders within the context of formulating Germany's strategy on international digital policy.
National Stakeholder Forum International Digital Policy: Thematic consultations BMDV initiated the consultation process on Germany's strategy for international digital policy in February 2023. On 9 and 10 May, specific topics of interest were discussed in greater detail during dedicated consultations with German stakeholders.
INDONESIAKick-off of the Indonesian-German Digital Dialogue at Hannover Messe On 19 April 2023, the first Annual Meeting of the Indonesian-German Digital Dialogue took place at Hannover Messe. BMDV and the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Informatics (MCI) exchanged the Joint Declaration of Intent, which was signed by both ministers, and agreed on the Work Plan for the Digital Dialogue.
BRAZILPublication: Green Paper on 5G Campus Networks The Secretariat for the Brazilian-German Digital Dialogue coordinated a task force of experts to debate 5G campus networks in Brazil and Germany. After a year of exchanges, the task force finalised a green paper on 5G campus networks. It is written in Portuguese and available for download.
INDIANew Work Plan 2023-2024 for the Indo-German Digital Dialogue On 30 May 2023, the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and BMDV signed the new Work Plan of the Indo-German Digital Dialogue. Indian Secretary Alkesh Kumar Sharma and German State Secretary Stefan Schnorr agreed to further promote a strong bilateral dialogue.
MEXICOMexican-German Digital Dialogue at the Regional Forum on Digital Transformation From 24 May to 26 May 2023, the “Regional Forum on Digital Transformation” was held at the premises of the Mexican Ministry of Economy (ECONOMIA). The Secretariat for the Mexican-German Digital Dialogue organised two panel discussions together with ECONOMIA and the Mexican Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT).
JAPAN7th Japanese-German Digital Dialogue On 21 June, the 7th Japanese-German Digital Dialogue took place at the premises of BMDV - together with the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MCI). The hybrid event was divided into a government dialogue in the morning and an exchange with stakeholders in the afternoon.
JAPAN, SINGAPORE AND KOREAStakeholder Consultations for the Digital Dialogues with Japan, Singapore and Korea On 12 May, BMDV held first stakeholder consultations for the Digital Dialogues with Japan, Singapore and the Republic of Korea. The ministry invited stakeholders from business, academia and civil society to an exchange on focus topics that should be discussed within the three Digital Dialogues.
