8th annual meeting of the Japanese-German ICT Policy Dialogue

On 28 November 2024, the 8th annual meeting of the Japanese-German ICT Policy Dialogue took place in Tokyo between the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) and the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC). The central goal was to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of digitalisation and to enhance the framework conditions for the international digital economy in the long term.

Open Industry Roadshow: Exploring the role of data spaces in the Brazilian data economy

In November 2024, the Secretariat for the Digital Dialogues in Brazil co-organised the Open Industry Roadshow with the Brazilian IoT Association (ABINC) and the German Machinery and Equipment Manufacturers Association (VDMA). The roadshow took place in four different Brazilian cities and underscored the transformative potential of data spaces to leverage the country's data economy.

OpenIMIS and AI: Solutions for social security by Dataprev

From November 4 to 7, 2024, Rio de Janeiro hosted the Technical Seminar of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) under the theme "Artificial Intelligence for Social Security – Building Bridges to the Future." The event brought together ISSA members from the Americas and Portuguese-speaking nations to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dataprev, Brazil’s state-owned leader in social security technology.

Digital Summit 2024: International cooperation between innovation and regulation

One key topic was the importance of the international cooperation in digital policy, which is crucial for balancing innovation and regulation. The Digital Dialogues pose a key instrument for the German government in this regard. They promote exchange and cooperation in the field of technology at a global level.

Knowledge Exchange on the EU AI Act and Classification of AI Systems

On 29 October 2024, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV), the Secretariat of the Indonesian – German Digital Dialogue organised a Knowledge Exchange on the EU AI Act and the Classification of AI Systems together with the Indonesian Ministry for Communications and Digital Affairs (MCDA). The exchange, part of a series of exchange on AI, brought together over 40 participants from various sectors, including associations, academics and policy makers from both Indonesia and Germany.

Navigating EU data protection: nasscom workshop for Indian digital companies

On 12 September 2024, the Indian software association nasscom (National Association of Software and Service Companies) organised a workshop on compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for a delegation of Indian companies from the digital sector. The workshop was part of a series of events on the legal aspects of entering the German market. Marc Lendermann, Head of Division for Bilateral Digital Policy and Digital Dialogues of the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs (BMDV), opened the workshop in Düsseldorf.

Fourth Annual Meeting of the Brazilian-German Digital Dialogue and MCTI’s Technical Mission

From 7 to 11 October 2024, high-level officials, business leaders, civil society representatives, and academics gathered in Berlin for the Fourth Annual Brazil-Germany Digital Dialogue. The meeting reaffirmed both nations' commitment to advancing collaborative digital policies and exploring new areas of cooperation. Brazil’s Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI) also led a Technical Mission, fostering knowledge exchange through technical discussions and visits to innovation hubs, furthering mutual understanding of digital transformation strategies.
