First Brazilian Stakeholder Consultations for the Digital Dialogue
On 16 and 17 November 2022, the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) held the first consultations with Brazilian stakeholders of the German-Brazilian Digital Dialogue. Stakeholders from the private sector, civil society and academia attended the event. It was structured into three thematic sessions: Web 3.0 and Quantum Computing, Digital Health and Twin Transition.

Indonesia passes personal data protection bill into law
Until September this year, personal data regulations in Indonesia were scattered across finance, telecommunications and labour law. This made it difficult for businesses and consumers to account for data misuse and malpractice. With a new data protection law, Indonesia now holds both local and international businesses liable for handling personal data.

Indo-German exchange on innovation and e-governance
From 26 to 28 October 2022, a delegation headed by Benjamin Brake, Director General (DG) for Digital and Data Policy at the German Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV), visited Bangalore and New Delhi. The visit reaffirmed the continuously strong cooperation between Germany and India on the topic of digitalisation.

BSI workshop on cybersecurity for critical infrastructure
In an online workshop on 29 of June, the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) presented important aspects of cybersecurity for critical infrastructure. The aim was to provide insights into the German framework for cybersecurity measures and to foster international collaboration among relevant actors in the digital ecosystem.

BMDV actively participates in 8th Brazilian Innovation Week
The German-Brazilian Digital Dialogue supported the first official visit of the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) to Brazil from 6 to 9 August 2022. The Director-General of BMDV’s central department, Dr Rudolf Gridl, participated in two panels at the 8th Brazilian Innovation Week. He also met with high-ranking officials within the Brazilian administration to assess opportunities for cooperation in digital government and innovation management.

Annual Meeting of the Indo-German Digital Dialogue: New focus topics on the horizon
The Annual Meeting of the Indo-German Digital Dialogue took place on 23 June 2022 with more than 50 participants joining physically and virtually. The German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) welcomed the Indian delegation from the Ministry for Electronics and IT (MeitY). State Secretary Stefan Schnorr (BMDV) and Secretary Alkesh Sharma (Meity) reiterated their commitment to the Indo-German Digital Dialogue. Besides the established topics of the Work Plan, they discussed new focus topics such as green technology for the upcoming year.
