Dear reader Welcome to the second newsletter of the International Digital Dialogues. The Digital Dialogues are a multi-stakeholder platform for bilateral exchange on digital policy issues. Germany and its partner countries aim to jointly shape better conditions for the digital transformation worldwide. The governments are in regular dialogue with stakeholders from business, academia and civil society to ensure that political approaches meet current needs. So, your engagement is key! In this newsletter, you'll find updates on our activities, including news on the planned Digital Dialogues with Ghana, Kenya and South Africa, the Brazilian-German Digital Dialogue, an exchange on the digital strategies of Germany and Indonesia and the Mexican-German discussion on sustainable data centres. News from the International Digital DialoguesBRAZILThird Annual Meeting of the Brazilian-German Digital Dialogue On 14 September 2023, high-ranking government officials from Brazil and Germany reaffirmed their commitment to digital policy cooperation. Alongside representatives from business, civil society and academia, they assessed opportunities for joint cooperation activities. GHANA, KENYA AND SOUTH AFRICAStakeholder consultation for Digital Dialogues with Ghana, Kenya and South Africa The German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) held its first stakeholder consultation for the planned Digital Dialogues with Ghana, Kenya and South Africa on 31 August. Representatives from business, academia and civil society took part in the virtual event to contribute their focus topics for the Digital Dialogues.
INDIAIndo-German Digital Dialogue is to be further deepened The German Minister for Digital and Transport, Volker Wissing, visited Bangalore on the occasion of the G20 Digital Economy Ministers' meeting. According to him, the Indo-German Digital Dialogue is to be further deepened to exchange views on digital public infrastructure, artificial intelligence and the importance of inclusion in digitalisation.
INDONESIAExchange on national digital strategies of Indonesia and Germany On 31 August 2023, the first stakeholder exchange of the Indonesian-German Digital Dialogue took place. BMDV and the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCI) jointly hosted the event and informed about the digital strategies of both countries. More than 80 representatives from politics, academia, business and civil society joined the exchange.
MEXICOMexican-German exchange on perspectives for a sustainable data centre industry On 24 August 2023, representatives from the German Datacenter Association (GDA) and the Mexican Association of Data Centers (MEXDC) participated in a virtual meeting to exchange best practices for energy efficiency and talent recruitment strategies.
