BRAZIL

Strengthening Brazilian-German cooperation at Hannover Messe 2026

The Brazilian Ministry for Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) as well as other Brazilian organisations visited Germany and planned cooperation activities with the German government and industry. The highlight of the delegation visit was the annual meeting of the Brazilian-German Digital Dialogue at Hannover Messe.

Public sector modernisation in focus during Brazilian delegation visit to Germany

A delegation from Brazil's Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) discussed topics around digital government and administrative modernisation with German partners. The visit opened up pathways for cooperation between both countries on public sector innovation.

Putting the Indo-German AI Pact into practice: The "AI for Mittelstand" Working Group is growing

The new AI for Mittelstand Working Group has taken off. In July, it held two webinars to engage businesses and associations. An upcoming roadshow in Germany as well as targeted matchmaking between Mittelstand companies and AI providers in India will further advance Indo-German cooperation on AI application across industries.

Launch of the Indo-German "AI for Mittelstand" Working Group

In April 2026, Germany's association for small- and medium-sized enterprises, BVMW, and India's association for the IT sector, NASSCOM, launched the "AI for Mittelstand" Working Group. This marked the first step in taking the Indo-German AI Pact off the ground. The new working group aims for business collaborations between German SMEs and India's AI ecosystem.

INDONESIA

Indonesian-German Digital Dialogue: Kick-off of working groups on AI governance and data protection

In May, the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (MCDA) and the German Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation (BMDS) met in Jakarta for the annual meeting of the Indonesian-German Digital Dialogue. A key outcome was the kick-off of working groups focused on data protection policy and on AI governance.

Kenyan IT talent and European demand: building new partnerships for digital services

A delegation of Kenyan IT companies travelled through Berlin, Prague, and Munich before closing out at GITEX AI Europe, and made a direct pitch: the skilled talent and services many European businesses are looking for already exist – in Nairobi. These talents cannot only fill junior roles but are increasingly skilled and adapt to the changing work environments of AI.

Open-source cooperation: turning policy dialogue into concrete partnership opportunities in Nairobi

Together with the Digital Transformation Center Kenya, we organised a delegation visit of German and European digital, cloud, open-source and outsourcing companies to Kenya. They identified concrete areas for collaboration in the open-source ecosystem and in IT talent sourcing. The first business agreements and collaborations are now taking shape.
